Hi there! Welcome to Brady & Christen’s blog about living life, loving God, & growing our family through adoption. We're excited to share what God is doing as we embark on the next phase of life & we are glad you're following along!

Excited, Anxious, & Prayerful

It has officially been a month since our last post. A few things have changed. We still don’t have a court date. However, it is highly likely that we will have one within a week or two. Originally, the lawyer was to represent us using a power of attorney for this court date- meaning we would not need to be present. However, it is now possible (but not certain) that we will need to be present for court.

This makes me:

A. Super Excited! Things are happening!
Throughout this process I have been impatiently praying for patience (i.e.: Lord, grant me patience…Now!). But patience doesn’t really work that way! Being from a generation prone to instant gratification makes this whole ‘patience’ thing difficult. I have to remind myself daily to ‘put on’ patience as stated in Colossians 3:12 – “Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.” We have been very fortunate to have a quick and easy process thus far. However, I’m sure this is only the beginning of our growth in patience, as there is still much left to be done, through both this process, and in life!

B. Anxious! For a couple of reasons.
First: That we could be in Africa in two weeks!?! This is a bit unexpected, seeing as we were operating under the assumption that the lawyer would meet proxy for us; which might still be the case. However, just the possibility of near travel seems surreal.
Second: Brady has a certification test (which he has been working on for 4 years) on June 5th. Could be bad timing. This test is only offered once annually every June, and this is the last section required to attain the certification. Hopefully we won’t incur an interference of the two.

As the proverbial clock winds down on our adoption process, here are a few things to pray with us for:
  • That God would work out the timing for Brady’s test and our travel date.
  • It is now rainy season in Ghana- meaning it rains every day, and will probably continue to throughout July (yuck!). Several of the children in the foster home took ill due to the change in weather- including our son. They were treated at the hospital, (nothing serious) and are now back at the home. Please pray for the health of our son, as well as the other children in his home.
  • That God would prepare the heart of our son for adoption, and that our transition into a family would be natural.
  • That God would bless us with wisdom in training up our son in the way of the Lord.
  • That we would find favor with the Ghanaian Court & US Embassy, & that the remainder of the process would go smooth.
  • Brady won’t complain much during the 18 hour flights!
